Directions for Immigrants provides free career services for internationally educated immigrants living in Alberta. Career coaches can help you understand the Canadian job market and plan the next steps toward your career goal.
The service can help you:
make a career and job-search plan
prepare a resume and practise job interviews
learn if your occupation is regulated in Canada
understand professional licensing requirements
improve communication skills for Canadian workplaces
attend employment workshops and employer events
join licensing exam study groups for some professions
Career coaching is available in person, online and by phone. A career coach gives you tools, information and support. A career coach does not find or apply for jobs for you.
Who can register?
The registered client service is for internationally educated immigrants who live in Alberta. The Get Started form asks you to confirm that you live in Alberta and have a Social Insurance Number.
Public pre-arrival information is also available online. You can use this information before you move to learn about working in Calgary and Alberta.
How to start
Call Directions for Immigrants before completing the full registration form. Staff will book an appointment and explain the next steps. Some workshops and study groups have limited space, so contact the centre early.
